Mission: Our intent is to create a non-profit organization
that will focus on raising funds locally and maybe abroad
as circumstance permit in order to create a meaningful
solution to the ever-growing problem of poverty in the
South Eastern States of Nigeria. The overarching
purpose/goal of this organization is to diligently use due
process to create a robust and seamless network of
events that will eventually translate into benefit to
almost if not all the disadvantage people of our local
governments and States. The organization will also focus
its efforts in educating Africans about the dangers of HIV
and AIDS, including providing the HIV drug treatment to
infected children in Africa. The organization will
establish computer literacy center and library in as many
places as possible within the West African Region.
Specific Target
What Riverniger organization will do in addition of trying
to awaken in our youths the sense of purpose and self
reliance, and also helping them come to the realization
that salvation will never come to Africa except through a
creative, self-reliance and independent Africans. No
longer shall we say, what can the develop country do for
us, rather we will ask ourselves what can we do in order
to better our own lots.
Computer Literacy
Bridging the digital divide. -- Despite remarkable
technological advances in some quarters and the
resultant wealth and other opportunities this affords, the
gap between the Internet haves and have-nots tends to
be more of a chasm than a mere gap. More than 80% of
people in the world have never ever heard a dial tone,
surfed the Web, let alone received computer training.
This statistics is especially true in Africa, and Riverniger
organization will work to change this situation.
AIDS
Unless we (Africans) in addition to rich nations step up
our efforts to curb AIDS, the U.N. estimates that the
disease will kill 70 million people over the next 20 years.
95% of all people with AIDS or HIV live in developing
nations, with the countries of sub-Saharan Africa
particularly hard-hit, and Nigeria is in the fore front. An
estimated 13.2 million children under age 15 have lost
their mothers or both parents as a result of AIDS.
Riverniger organization will create more awareness of
the disease in Nigeria.
Education
An important part of our mission is to invest in today's
children -- the leaders of tomorrow -- through knowledge
and character-building education and guidance for them,
their parents, and their communities. Riverniger
organization intends to undertake the huge task of
bringing education to the fore front in the able mind of
capable African youths.
